12 Feb - Photo #365

Christmas 2011
Here it is - photo number 365.  I began this project with a photo of my St. Mark's family, my workmates for more than a decade.  It seems only proper to finish it off with my real family, some of the kindest, wittiest, funniest, bravest people I know.

I've probably taken more photos in the past year than I had in my entire lifetime, pre-project, and I have to say that I'm glad it's over.  Thanks to Ed; I don't know that I would have completed this without your encouragement.

I started this to get better acquainted with my new DSLR camera but found that I ended up taking many of the photos with my little point and shoot, although I do change the settings on my little camera now.  The big one is just often too cumbersome to haul around.

As I look back at the photos, I see some things that I would do differently now.  I may in the coming months, edit some of the photos by cropping, correcting the white balance, or just doing a little something in Photoshop.  I'll add the new versions as I get round to it but keep the old so we can see the comparison.  I may even add some of the many photos Ed has taken of me taking pictures.

Thanks for following along. God bless. --Lois

Most Teatralny

It's interesting to see the count in my various categories as I approach the end of this project.  As expected, garden shots are near the top of my list.  I find interesting plants and flowers fascinating - just as I find beautifully presented food fascinating, but I've worked really hard in the last 12 months to keep food on the food blog.

The Bazar, Poznan
Built in the mid-1800, it once house a hotel, shopping center, concert hall, and casino - the center of political and cultural life at the time.  Headquarters for the rebels in the Wielkopolska Upsrising, the building is now home to upscale shops.

Thunder Canyon Brewery, Tucson, - an Arnold Palmer spiked with strawberry Jolly Rancher infused vodka
I'm posting this photo to remind me that I loved the sound of this drink.  I just don't like Jolly Ranchers.  I'll try this technique with a decent hard candy and vodka.  Why are Jolly Ranchers still around anyway?  Does anyone really enjoy them?
